Learn about severe weather and how to identify important features. After completing the free training (only about two hours), you will be a SKYWARN storm spotter and know when to report dangerous situations to the National Weather Service to help better warn others in the community. These classes are hosted across the midwestern United States during springtime.
If classes are not available in your area or if it is the off-season, you may take a free online version of the SKYWARN storm spotter training offered by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research.
